Truth be told : It's only good for laughs...

Went to Pyramid with Ellina earlier today. Fun all the way. Watched The Ugly Truth (Ellina’s pick). Laughed ourselves so hard, it was ridiculous. Then we broke our fast at Manhattan Fish Market. Elle hogged all the oysters while I had dibs on the cheesey prawns. Super yum!

I noticed there are so many new (and cool) movies coming up at the end of this year. I remembered making a list of up-and-coming movies to watch out for last year. Some I managed to catch in the cinema, others I just couldn't find the time.

Of course, this list and what I think is cool and worthy of watching is entirely based on my humble, neurotic and sometimes superficial opinion.

  • If it's drama/chick flick/ fantasy-like adventure, CHECK.

  • If there are (hunky) fav actors of mine involved, in which I would call actor alert, CHECK.

  • If it involves blood and all the gory details, CHECK.

  • Fangs and cold brooding vamps are always a CHECK.

  • If it's by Disney, wajib la CHECK. ;D

So yeah..you really shouldn't trust my judgement...

2009

1.Bride Wars
2. Confessions of A Shopaholic – The one movie compulsive shoppers all around were dying to watch.
3. Inkheart - A must for all book hoarders and avid fan of Brendan Fraser like mόi.
4. City Of Ember - Actor alert : Harry Treadaway.
5. Angels and Demons
6. Public Enemies
7. I Love You, Man – Actor alert : Paul Rudd
8. The Proposal – Actor Alert : Ryan Reynolds
9. G.I Joe – Actor alert : Channing Tatum.
10. Up – Disney has never let me down. (Wait, with the exception of Wall-E. I was literally yawning in the cinema).
11. G-Force

Coming soon from Oct 09 to Dec 09

1. The Time Traveller’s Wife
2. (500) Days Of Summer - Aaaa! Actor Alert : Joseph Gordon Levitt!!

3. Inglorious Basterds

4. 2012
5. New Moon – Looking at the trailer, I can tell it’ll be another letdown like the first one. However I’m still going to watch it out of loyalty for the whole Twilight Saga.

6. Fantastic Mr Fox
7. Buddha Collapsed Out Of Shame - A Persian movie that’s been getting rave review from The Star.

8. The Princess And The Frog – A Disney must watch!

9. Sherlock Holmes

Where the heck is Coraline? And My Sister’s Keeper? Penat kot I tunggu dari last June. What’s even worst, Sarah and her mom pun dah tengok kat UK. Should we wait like…uhh..the next 10 years before the 2 movies actually hit the Malaysian shores?

My pick for movies to watch in 2010

1. Cirque Du Freak : The Vampire's Assistant – Vamp fans, rejoice. But don’t expect any love story here. This is one sick and twisted vampire movie. It's based on the book series, The Saga of Darren Shan. And seriously, the books are really scary eventhough they're targeted for young adults. (Ni lagi satu movie penat tunggu. From June delayed to September delayed to December delayed to 2010)

2. The Last Airbender
3. Alice In Wonderland – Director alert : Tim Burton. Always a fan of his quirky and eerily dark films. And last time I saw Alice, I was 9.

4. Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
5. Toy story 3 – I’ll be in line to watch you Woody. On the very first day itself.

6. Inception – Actor alert : Cillian Murphy
7. The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

*RED indicates wajib tengok kat cinema. By hook or crook.*

Am currently going through a phase that involves gushing over Freddie Highmore. Have bought DVDs of August Rush and Spiderwick Chronicles. Have yet to look for Finding Neverland and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

If it means having to sell my soul...

Watched Wild Child last night (again!) with my sister. She is obsessed with the movie. I'm more obsessed with all of Poppy Moore's handbags in that movie. While my sister would swoon at the sight of Alex Pettyfer, I would sigh dreamily the moment I saw Poppy's red Gucci Indy handbag.

Like I said in my previous entry, I'm not that crazy about shoes. The only other thing I love more than music are handbags. I can never resist a shiny handbag. They're like my kryptonite, my own personal brand of heroin. As the cheesy Edward Cullen would say. Which is why my mom would follow me everywhere diligently each time there's a sale involving bags. She knew how little self control I have. My friend has a coat-like hanger that she uses to hang all of her handbags. The first time I saw it in her room I was practically drooling over each and every bag. The same evening she took me to a furniture store and yes, I got myself the tree-like hanger as well. My mom is quite annoyed (and appalled) that I'm growing my own "handbag-tree" in my room.

Anyway, after watching the movie, I searched online to find out more about the uber gorgeous maroon handbag. And finally I found it. My heart was practically racing and I almost had trouble breathing. I've died and gone to sheer heaven. (Pardon me and my hyperbole).

Right...where was I? Oh yes, the bag...

Leather-like snakeskin? Check. Deep red colour that's just to good to resist? Double check. Flashy metal plate details? Check. What the heck, the bag had me at "Leather" and "Red".

Since it's by Gucci, the bag retails at around $5800. That's according to the website. This means I would most probably need RM 20,247.69 for this baby to be mine. It also means either I have to marry an old, bald bazillionaire (is there such word?) to obtain such $$_$$ or I have to sell my soul to the devil in exchange for the handbag. Haha, joking. Or am I???

Then I found a few online boutiques that sell replicas (or *ahem* inspired, as they call it) of designer handbags at much, much cheaper $$. One even had a tagline "Looking for a quality handbag but don't want to pay the designer prices?". The more I browsed, the more I my hunger grew for the handbags. My favourites (and by any means I have to get them) include :

They look alike don't they? Almost the exact same design as the deep red one. And these babies would only cost you $249.6 or RM 871.35 each. Hah, all I have to do is dine at my parent's home for a month and splurge half of my first paycheck on those bags.

Buying an authentic LV handbag is included in my list of things to do in life. I just can't bear the thought of buying a fake LV at Petaling Street. It would break my heart so much. I don't know how many months worth of paycheck it's going to cost me but if it means having to wait years before I can finally afford it, then I'll wait. In the mean time, this replica retails at $189 = RM659.80. I have a feeling the original would cost me twice that.

Other handbags I totally fell in love with...

This replica of Marc Jacobs Cecilia bag retails at $285 = RM 994.90.

You can never go wrong with my favourite man, Jimmy Choo. The authentic would take you up to RM 6,615.41 but the replica would cost you as little as RM1,152.02 only.

And the clutches below are simply beautiful aren't they...

This is the "handbag tree" I was talking about. Ditanam, dibaja dan di-water dengan penuh kasih sayang by my bestie, Yaz. Mine has not grown half as hers yet.

I haven't been doing any song review lately...Even the last 3 entries were about shoes, hunks and...oh yeah..a movie..Now it's bags. Although the movie was about music. Would that count?

Okay, I solemnly promise myself to do an album review after this. After I'm done being high and drunk from those handbags.

Kappa Tau Gamma (K T Γ)

I think I may be going crazy now because I've not seen Cappie for 3 weeks. Last 3 weeks I had to bail out on our weekly date because I had a fever. Hence I had to go to bed early. Last 2 weeks we took a rain check on our date because Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam was running amok seeking revenge. And last night he cancelled on me. Again. To give way to a crawly Kuntilanak who needs to find a new guardian. Are you effin' kidding me?? Who cares about some frickin' old dude with white hair crawling out of mirrors? I need to see my Cappie!!!

Right...all drama queen attitude aside, let's focus on more pressing issues. Who is Cappie, you might ask? He is my latest biggest crush whom I have to say just might knock Ryan Atwood off the #1 spot. Cappie is a character from a TV series, Greek and is portrayed by Scott Michael Foster. Basically it's a show about college students who are members of fraternities and sororities.

*Warning: Gushing mode entering*

Cappie is absolutely...adorable...And I found out that Scott Foster is the lead singer of an indie band called Sirens Eye. Can he be any more perfect? *sighs dreamily* And he's the total opposite of Ryan. While Ryan is all about dark past, troubled and brooding, Cappie is goofy, laid-back, funny and did I mention gorgeous? I can stare at him for hours and hours and hours....

Evan is another guy in Greek who happens to be Cappie's archenemy. My sister thinks Evan is way cuter than Cappie and worthy of having a crush on but he's so...preppy (we're talking buttoned up, tucked in shirt)..and predictable.. responsible (wait, is that a bad thing?) I think it's much more fun rooting for the slacker dude. Haha.

Haiyoo...I tau la it's fasting month and there are no ghosts roaming around..but do you really have to pick Tuesday night to show all horror movies on TV2??

p/s : With the way I'm gushing and going head over heels for Cappie, you might think I'm just another lovesick teenager suffering from teeny bopperism. Minus the teenager, I'm just another girl who's acting like a teeny bopper because she refuses to grow up into an adult yet.

---------------------------I had to include Ryan. Couldn't resist. ;p ----------------------

An incredible journey moving at the speed of sound

"...and if I think I can learn how to play it, they might hear me...They would know I was theirs... And find me..."

A struggling musician, a concert cellist and Freddie Highmore as the musical child prodigy. Those alone are enough for me to fall in love with August Rush.

I don't even know how to compliment this film without sounding like I'm milking it over the top. I do know it's a beautiful movie and I do know I'm lucky enough to have come across it. If you do get the opportunity to watch this film, don't just "watch" it. Listen, and I really mean LISTEN to it as well. Because it really moves you, how Evan/August feels the music around him. And the musical score for the film is simply breathtaking.

If you love everything there is about music, instead of falling for Jonathan Rhys Meyer (and how gorgeous he looked with a guitar), your heart would go out for Evan/August himself.

*Thanks Diba. I owe you one*
